Alzheimer’s information, movie presented at Regency
The Alzheimer’s Association will offer the following events Friday and Saturday at the Regency at Hualalai, 75-181 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona.
Chris Ridley will present “What is Dementia” at 6 p.m. Friday. The seminar will include the latest information on the warning signs of dementia, its stages, symptoms and treatments.
Ridley will lead “Legal Affairs and Dementia” at 9 a.m. Saturday. Ridley will discuss dementia and potential legal needs, legal capacity, advance health care directives, financial planning and organizing legal financial affairs. At 11 a.m., Ridley will show the movie “Memories of Tomorrow,” about a person dealing with the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. A discussion will follow.
Ridley will present “Challenging Behaviors in Dementia” at 1 p.m. The seminar includes information on why behaviors occur and possible interventions.
All events are free, with limited seating. Call Ridley at the Alzheimer’s Association at 443-7360 for a reservation.
Quilters meeting Saturday in Waimea
Mauna Kea Quilters is a group of patchwork quilters who share their love of quilting with others. The group will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the meeting room of the Thelma Parker Memorial Library in Waimea. Monthly business meetings are open to the public and followed by a time for sharing new ideas and techniques.
The group donates quilts to help raise money for worthwhile organizations in the Waimea area.
